Callejón de los Curas
More than a passage, a living fragment of the history of the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.
This narrow pedestrian corridor connects the Plazoleta de los Curas—facing the Primada de América Cathedral—with Padre Billini Street. Its name originates from the canons and religious figures who lived and moved through this area from the 16th century onward, forming an integral part of the cathedral complex and its surrounding residences.
For centuries, Callejón de los Curas witnessed quiet movement, ceremonies, and subtle encounters, embedded in the religious and urban life of what would become the first capital of the New World.
Inspired by this historic passage, a new piece from La Zona emerges—Gifinas’ collection that translates historic places into contemporary design with deep cultural.
This design evokes the textures, rhythms, and silences of colonial architecture, reinterpreted through a modern visual language.
